Only in Minnesota

Only in Minnesota do we have spring Robins in the trees....

...and Ice Castles just down the block.

Well, not really.  I'm sure that many places have Robins that return before spring arrives.  And I know of a few other cities that had Ice Castles this year.

But we were lucky enough to have less than a mile from here.  Complete with Superman.

The ice castle was an amazing thing.  You can read more about them here: http://icecastles.com/

I had a season pass, so I wandered over there a couple of times.  The ice looked different depending on the weather.

Good cold fun.  The deep blue color is natural, sort of like the color of an iceberg.

I included some people in this picture to give an idea of how huge this center tower was.

Here's a vertical panoramic photo to show it better.

Tall and very cold!  Good thing spring is just around the corner.

The tulip and a robin told me so!

Marching On

Marching on into March photos!  Horses, cat and flowers...just like last month.  I need to get out of this rut!

I think that my horses were tire of winter, they wouldn't even look at me when I went out to visit with them.

Neither of them!  Don't they know that the cold weather isn't my fault!/!

Even the sky still looked like winter in early March.

When Greta isn't outside she's looking out the window wishing she were outside.

And I resort to spring flowers to make it through the final days of winter.

Pretty tulips in pretty light.

Speaking of spring, here's the video I made of the Watch 'em Grow pot.  It sort of shows how fast spring comes when the days warm up.

I hope the video works,  I hope that you are in the midst of spring in your neck of the woods!

Mostly Pictures

A horse, some flowers and the cats.  That about sums up my days during the winter!  When things warm up I venture outside to take pictures a little more often!

Here's Skylar, waiting for food.  The boy likes his feed!

A tulip.

Valentine's roses.

Dancing Greta.

Valentines roses.

The Valentine's roses that just keep going....

and going...

and going...best flower bargain from Cub foods ever!

I like their tulips too.

Molly doesn't appreciate flowers.  Or having her photo taken.  Or much of anything except for food.

Roses again.

The tulips lasted a long time too!

Still pretty.

Greta in her favorite bowl.

And the last of the Valentine's roses.  Two full weeks later.  Crazy.

And with that, I'm caught up with February.  March in April doesn't sound nearly as bad.  Thanks for stopping by!

Still Kicking

It's true, I'm still alive and kicking.  Mostly kicking myself for getting so far behind with my blogging.  This picture was taken way back around the last time I blogged in February!  Yikes.

I have some time today, so I'll try to cue up a few posts and get caught up!  The pictures above and below were part of a "Watch 'em Grow" pot that I had in my family room.  I did make a movie of how the flowers grew, I'll share that in one of my next posts.

I took this picture of the sun setting while we were driving South on highway 35 at 70 mph or so.  And no, I wasn't driving!  I'm always surprised that a fairly clear picture can be taken at highway speed.

We went to Iowa to watch Billy play in a volleyball tournament.  It's so cool to me that he loves a sport that I have loved playing for many years.

It was a quick trip, I was home enjoying the tulips on my kitchen table the next day.

A fragrant hyacinth in my "Watch 'em Grow" pot.

The tulips on my table again.  Sometimes they last a long time, sometimes they don't!

A few more "Watch 'em Grow" pictures.

I love how they bring a feeling of spring right into the house when winter is dragging on.

I think that this is a grape hyacinth.  Again, in the "Watch 'em Grow" pot.

Beautiful Valentines roses.  Yep, I'm that far behind!

This guy has been my Valentine since 1979.  I must have been 5 years old. :-)  Not really, but that makes me feel old!

Brian was home with us for Valentine's Day.  I'm sure we enjoyed that more than he did!

Close up of my roses.  They lasted for a couple of weeks...as you will see!

Delicious cornish game hen for supper.  I don't usually take food pictures, but this was a darn good meal if I say so myself!

So...what can I say...except Happy Valentine's Day in April.  It's better than tax day, that's for sure!  Thanks for stopping by.
