November 15th, 2012

Creative title don't you think?  My last post left off with not knowing if the football season would continue or not.  Well, it's continuing!  The boys played a tough game, beating Minnetonka 21-18.  The game went to the final seconds.  After the game his coach said, "well somebody enjoyed that game..." meaning that it was too close for comfort!  Photo taken after the game.  They play again on Friday night.

It was really warm on Saturday, almost 70 degrees.  The dog is still loving the grass, rolling around and shaking.  In the full sized version of this photo you can see hair and leaves and other debris flying off of her.  No wonder I can't keep up with the house work.

Eric left for a short business trip on Sunday afternoon, just as the temperatures dropped here.  They dropped fast! We had a little rain and snow and wind and thunder.  A tornado touched down in a neighboring suburb. Crazy.  It was a cold day, so Billy and I had a fire in the fireplace.  First one of the year.  It was nice and toasty!

This looks like a snowy picture, but it's not.  Just some berries on a cold November sky.

Cardinal at the feeder at dusk.  I don't think he was happy that I let the seed get so low!

This is Molly after eating the cardinal from the above photo.  NO...NOT REALLY...IM KIDDING!  She was on her favorite unmade bed and the red comforter was reflecting on her chin.  I didn't notice that it looked like a bloody mess until I posted the picture.

Sorry, the coffee hasn't kicked in yet....hoping it happens soon!  Thanks for stopping by.  Make it a great day!

November in November

With this post I'll be officially caught up, except that it's scheduled to post on Saturday, so I'll be a day behind again.  Oye.  So it goes.  I think that fall is the only time of the year that I like the color orange.  Some flowers on the island in my kitchen.  Shorter days means less time to take photos under natural light.  At least the orange brightens things up.

Football is still going on...I hope.  The quarter final state tournament game is Friday night, this will post on Saturday.  I'm predicting a win...lets hope I'm right!  Last Friday they played a team that was all in orange.  Too much orange for me.  Not as bright as hunters orange, a little brighter than prison jump suits.  Our team looked good, I think that they have gotten their stuff together at just the right time.  Go Eagles!

I had a sample printed of the football memory book to make sure that the margins were good etc.  I like how it is turning out.  I hope to have 3 more games to add to it!

I still have my scare crow out on my front step.  I probably should bring him in pretty soon. I think he's cute.

Our pup isn't looking very young any more.  Penny is 12 or 13...I can't remember right now.  I'm not looking very young any more either.  She loves rolling around in the yard, getting full of little leaves and bringing them into the house.  I need to either vacuum or rake the floors really soon.

Tuesday...election day.  We are encouraged to vote for candidates that have us totally discouraged about the future of our country.  Politicians spewing hate, lies and distrust.  God Bless America...we need it.

I like yellow flowers in the fall too.  How is that for quickly changing the subject?

And back to our sweet old dog.  She loves her rawhide bones.  She holds them between her front paws and goes to town.  Sometimes she'll just take them in her mouth and toss them up into the air.  Poor girl needs someone to play fetch with her.

And with that I'll end.  My old dog is calling me.  Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Color

Look at all of these posts in a row!  How can it be?  I'll be caught up before too long!  It's November and there isn't much color out there right now, but a few short weeks ago look at the bright yellow filling the window of Billy's room.  I stopped and enjoyed it every single time I walked by....especially when the sun was shining on it.

There was only a short break between football games in October, they played on Friday the 12th, where they had their first loss....and then played again on Wednesday the 17th because of MEA weekend.  A short time to recover and regroup.  Too short I guess, they lost again.  After all of the hype and winning the State Tournament this year, this season had drastically changed.  Time would tell how things turn out from this point.

Wednesday night game followed by a Thursday morning JV game.  Eric, Billy, my mom, and Eric's folks after the game.  How wonderful to have fans at the games.  Unfortunately the JV team had their 2nd loss of the season as well.  The boy is still smiling though...how can you not smile when you have fans at your games?

A little break from football and doing the memory book to snap a picture of Molly resting on an unmade bed.  Unmade beds are her favorite place to snuggle!

Penny wants to play.  She has attention deficit disorder...she never gets enough attention.  Ever.

We took a quick trip to the country to help winterize different things.  This boy is starting to winterize himself by growing a fluffy coat.

Yellow and red on an overcast day.

The huntress...awake long enough to go in search of prey.

Beautiful all day rain.  We need a few more rainy days like this one!

Too much working on the memory book, an exhausting double header volleyball game, the Vikings on a Thursday night...sometimes a cold beer is just the ticket.  Halfway through the beer I remembered that I hadn't taken my photo of the day...cell phone in one hand, beer in the other.  Sometimes it just has to be good enough.

Back to football.  Billy had fans again.  My niece Stephanie, her hubby Jim and sweet little Avery came to the first play-off game on a cold, windy night.  The boys were rewarded with a win.  Avery was rewarded with a view a mile high into the air.  On top of a kid that's 6'5" tall and wearing shoulder pads...it must have felt like she was on top of the world!  Too cute.

The birds have been really busy at the feeder...I wonder if that means something about the winter to come.  Maybe it just means that they are hungry!  This little chickadee was about to crack the sunflower shell.  Tweet.

Brian came home for the weekend, he was away at a wedding for most of Saturday, but had some time to carve pumpkins on Sunday.  Nothing better than family traditions....and there's really nothing better than having the family home to share them!

The pumpkins keeping watch on our front porch.

A little Halloween decoration in my living room.  Soon to be replaced with my snow village.  I'm thinking of setting up the snow village before Thanksgiving.  I should be thinking about getting the house cleaned and ready for guests instead.  We shall see!

Happy late Halloween.  Happy Early Thanksgiving!

Happy that my next post will feature November pictures in November.  At least I'm happy.  I hope you are too.  Thanks for stopping by!

October in November

October pictures in November...that's getting better!  My dad used to say that he was so behind on the farm that he was almost caught up.  It took me awhile to realize that he meant that once he was a full year behind he was really just starting the next year.  I'm not quite at that point yet.  But this post will be mostly pictures, like usual.  I hope you enjoy them.

The fall colors in one corner of my backyard.

A cosmos and a bee.

Wild sunflowers at the Arboretum on a beautifully warm day.

Mum on my front step.

Football game, away vs. Minnetonka.  Big win.

JV football vs. Minnetonka, first loss for JV 13-14.  Billy kicking an extra point.  They went for two points with their last touchdown...going for the win and not a tie...only to get shut out for the loss.  Pretty day for a game though!

Red berries on the blue sky.  Sigh.

Front step mums from a different angle.

Yellow mums, looking at the neighbors stately home.

One last sad petunia.  They like to be watered once in awhile.  Oops.

Billy's coach speaking at the Homecoming BBQ.  The team was 6-0 at that point...will it last?

Before the homecoming game.

First loss off the season.  Someone wasn't very happy about it.  I have to say though, more lessons are learned with a loss than with an easy victory.  I didn't mention that to Billy at the time.  Tough loss.

JV game versus the same team the following morning.  Misty, rainy day...played on the grass.  They got muddy, they got the win.  The rollercoaster of winning and losing....or losing and winning.  Whatever.  It was a sweet victory.

Back to the mums....and a yellow, yellow tree.

Football, flowers, and birds.  Makes sense to me.  This little chickadee is getting ready for winter....and I'm loving my new camera lens.

...and I'm also loving it that pretty soon, I will be all caught up.  Thanks for stopping by!
